When was the last time you changed all your household batteries? #ad

If you’re like I was, you probably don’t change your batteries until they run out. But as the mother of a toddler who swallowed a lithium coin battery and almost died, I am here to tell you that the time to change your batteries is now! Lithium coin batteries can be extremely dangerous, and even fatal, if swallowed. They’re found in toys, remotes, car key fobs, calculators, musical greeting cards, and many other household items.

To help keep your little ones safe, you should ensure the batteries in these household items are Duracell’s new lithium coin batteries with bitter coating designed to help discourage swallowing.

Once you replace your batteries, make sure that the battery compartments in all of your household items are secure, and follow the guidelines for safe disposal of old batteries:

- When removed from device(s), ensure batteries are locked in a secure container and placed in a safe location that children cannot access.
- Check with your local municipality to see if they have a battery collection program.
- Find a mail-in recycling program that accepts batteries.
- Inquire with local retailers, as some will accept used batteries and dispose of them at no cost to consumers.
